Overview:
Newfangled Mind Gaming, a rising esports and gaming content brand, sought visually captivating and immersive stream overlays to enhance their gaming sessions. The goal was to design dynamic overlays that would not only elevate the visual appeal of their streams but also reflect their brand identity of innovation, excitement, and strategy. These overlays needed to integrate seamlessly with streaming platforms like Twitch and YouTube, while making Newfangled Mind Gaming's content stand out in the competitive gaming space.
The Challenge:
The challenge was to create a set of overlays that would work well across various games and genres, while staying true to the brand's futuristic and bold aesthetic. It was important to create a balance between practicality (for streamers) and visual impact (for viewers), ensuring that the overlays provided essential information without overwhelming the screen or detracting from gameplay. Additionally, the design had to be adaptable to different stream elements like chat boxes, alerts, and sponsor logos, while keeping the energy and identity of Newfangled Mind Gaming at the forefront.
The Process:
I began by diving into Newfangled Mind Gaming's brand values: modern, sleek, and cutting-edge. After understanding the brand's color palette and visual style, I designed multiple variations of overlays, integrating futuristic elements like neon glows, digital textures, and clean, angular lines. I ensured that each overlay had clear spaces for stream chat, alerts, webcam, and social media handles, all while maintaining an engaging and immersive atmosphere. Transitions between screens were crafted to feel seamless, with smooth animations to keep the viewer's attention. I also collaborated with the client to make sure the overlays were functional for various gaming genres, from high-paced shooters to strategy games.
